It is a free camp for boys and girls aged 9-11 who may not have the opportunity to participate in such an experience.
The philosophy which the experience is based and which the Monkton Lions Club wholly endorses is, "It takes a village to raise a child." With that in mind we are taking steps to have camp-goers enjoy all that there is to enjoy of the great outdoors. The Club has zeroed in on four personal qualities that they believe to be essential to the development of any youngster: self-esteem, self-confidence, self-discipline, and a sense of belonging or acceptance.
The curriculum will revolve around five primary themes - fishing, swimming, canoeing, environment, and cooperative games. The activities that we choose are simply tools to facilatate our goal- the development of healthy young adults while at the same time, creating a fun filled experience. This camp will foster an inviting, cooperative, non-competitive environment where all participants will feel accepted and worthy.
